The region between the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea is dominated by the Caucasus Mountains. In far eastern Turkey, we find Mt. Ararat, where Noah's Ark is recorded to have settled on land after the flood. Ararat is half way between the Black and Caspian Seas.
Following southward, we find the Fertile Crescent from the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers, and Babylon on the Euphrates towards the Persian Gulf.
