THE CLASSROOM

The Bible is a book that is not merely for reading. It is a book for studying so that it can be applied. Otherwise, it is like swallowing food without chewing and then spitting it back out again—no nutritional value is gained by it. The Bible is God’s Word. As such, it is as binding as the laws of nature. We can ignore it, but we do so to our own detriment, just as we would if we ignored the law of gravity. It cannot be emphasized strongly enough just how important the Bible is to our lives. Studying the Bible can be compared to mining for gold. If we make little effort and merely "sift through the pebbles in a stream," we will only find a little gold dust. But the more we make an effort to really dig into it, the more reward we will gain for our effort.

The Bible remains the only source of divine revelation and power that can sustain you as a Christian in your walk with God.

We are sanctified by His word:

"Sanctify them by Your truth; Your word is truth" (John 17:17).

We have God's blessing by His word:

"But He said, 'More than that, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it'" (Luke 11:28).

We have victory by His word:

"...the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God" (Eph. 6:17).

We grow by feeding on the word:

"As newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby" (1 Pet. 2:2).

There is Power in His word:

"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek" (Rom. 1:16).

He guides us through His word:

"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path" (Ps. 119:105).

1. SESSION ONE: The Plan of REDEMPTION and CHRIST in the SCRIPTURES

Our problem as human beings are that we are born spiritually dead; we have physical and mental life, but no spiritual life. Without life in our spirits, we can have no fellowship with God or even know God for who He is.

This is a four-session discipleship class where the fundamental, foundational, primary and non-negotiable doctrines of the Bible are examined. These videos are not intended as an apologetic, but as a teaching tool for those who want to learn the Bible.
These are doctrines that are non-negotiable – in other words, without faith and understanding of these central doctrines as found in the Bible, one cannot have a proper understanding of God, His purposes and cannot have salvation or spiritual life as a Christian.

This is session 2 of four; each session is about 1 hour, and each covers the primary fundamentals of the faith, along with other biblical views that are vital for the Bible-believing disciple of Christ Jesus our LORD.
The fact that God gave us the Bible is evidence of His love for us. God communicated to mankind what He is like and how we can have a right relationship with Him. These are things that we could not have known had God not divinely revealed them to us in the Bible. The Bible contains everything mankind needs to know about God in order to have a right relationship with Him.

Biblical doctrine helps us understand the will of God for our lives. Biblical doctrine teaches us the nature and the character of God (Psalm 90:2; 97:2; John 4:24), the path of salvation through faith (Ephesians 2:8–9; Romans 10:9–10), instruction for the church (1 Corinthians 14:26; Titus 2:1–10), and God’s standard of holiness for our lives (1 Peter 1:14–17; 1 Corinthians 6:18–20).
In Luke 14, Jesus lays out the terms of discipleship. If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.
"And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple. 28 For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it? 29 Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him, 30 Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish. 31 Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand? 32 Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an ambassage, and desireth conditions of peace. 33 So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple."
“Counting the cost” means recognizing and agreeing to some terms first. In following Christ, we cannot simply follow our own inclinations. We cannot follow Him and the world’s way at the same time (Matthew 7:13-14). Following Him may mean we lose relationships, dreams, material things, or even our lives. When we become one of His, we cannot continue to belong to this world (1 John 2:15-17). We must make a choice, for we cannot serve both God and Mammon (Matthew 6:24).

BIBLE BASICS

Because of the fact that churches for the most part have wandered from discipleship and a firm foundation in the Word of GOD, and because the church here in America is thus ill-equipped to endure the times of persecution and hardship that are now at the door, such a ‘crash-course’ of the basics of Christianity is needful and provided here.

These will be concise, but complete treatments of the fundamentals that will aid those of the Christian faith in enduring such hardships and persecution that the LORD promised to all who will “live godly in Christ Jesus” (2 TIMOTHY 3:12).

THE FUNDAMENTALS OF OUR FAITH

“Being an essential part of something, or a foundation for the purpose of building on; something essential, of central importance.”

So, the fundamentals of Christian doctrine are the foundation stones upon which all other doctrines of the Bible are built upon.”

What then does doctrine mean? Simply, it means ‘teaching’. Specifically what GOD teaches us in His Word.

The fundamentals of the faith therefore are the core doctrines, the very heart of doctrinal truth that is recorded for us by GOD in the Holy Bible. From these foundational fundamentals all of the truth of GOD’s WORD is built upon and derives.

The Millennium: Reign of the Messiah - Series

What is this “Millennium” all about? What is its purpose – for Israel? and for the church? What will transpire during this time? Will it be 'heaven on earth' then without any trace of sin, corruption and rebellion? Will everyone be saved at that time? Will the church be in heaven or will we be here back on Earth? These questions and many, many more we will ponder and seek the LORD in His Word for answers, in this series, The MILLENNIUM: REIGN of the MESSIAH!

The Book of Revelation
by Clarence Larkin
[1919]

This is the Rev. Clarence Larkin's guide to the Book of Revelation. Larkin, who published several books about biblical studies in the 1910s and 20s, was a 'Dispensationalist'.

Larkin does not make any claims to know when or exactly how the prophecies will unfold. Rather he takes us on a grand tour of the Apocalypse of St. John, and guides us through its images, symbols and poetry. Larkin sorts out what could be a reference to an actual event or person, (without attempting any particular association) and what is pure symbolism. Larkin uses bold type extensively for emphasis, as well as some superb 'visual aids' in the form of intricate charts and maps.

The Book of Revelation has a consistent narrative with a beginning, middle and end. It is also one of the essential sacred texts and required reading for every serious bible student. This book will be a welcome reference for anyone studying or trying to explain Revelation, whether or not they are Dispensationalists.

Biblical Worldview

A “worldview” refers to a comprehensive conception of the world from a specific standpoint. A “Biblical Worldview,” then, is a comprehensive conception of the world from a Biblical standpoint. An individual’s worldview is his “big picture,” a harmony of all his beliefs about the world. It is his way of understanding reality. One’s worldview is the basis for making daily decisions and is therefore extremely important.
